Care through Art with Elderly
インド、アーメダバードに位置するデザイン学校、National Institute of Designにて行われた授業、OPEN ELECTIVE の一環として行われたワークショップ。このワークショップは、東京藝術大学によるアートプロジェクト「TURN」を基盤とし、アートとデザインを通じてコミュニティの課題に取り組むことを目的としている。2019 年にポーランドで実施された、日本の陶芸を通じて高齢者と交流したプロジェクトから着想を得ており、アーティストの高岡太郎の指導のもと、林含む学生たちは高齢者施設や介護施設でリサーチを行い、

This workshop was part of the OPEN ELECTIVE program held at the National Institute of Design (NID) in Ahmedabad, India. Based on “TURN,” an art project by Tokyo University of the Arts, the workshop aimed to explore how art and design can engage with and address challenges within communities. It was inspired by a 2019 project in Poland, where elderly participants interacted with Japanese ceramics as a means of cultural and intergenerational exchange.
Under the guidance of artist Taro Takaoka, Remi Hayashi and fellow students conducted research at elderly homes and care facilities. Through this fieldwork, they deepened their understanding of relationships with older adults and ultimately developed their own projects in response.
Confronted with the challenge of language barriers, Hayashi focused on creating a form of communication that would allow the elderly participants to enjoy being the subjects of portrait photography. For the final exhibition, she presented a series of portrait photographs along with a documentary video of the workshop process.
